Attorney Ilene M. Smith is a native of Fort Wayne Indiana. Inspired by her love of Constitutional law and victims advocacy, Ms. Smith first worked as an deputy prosecutor at the Marion County Prosecutors Office in Indianapolis. She eventually moved back to Fort Wayne to work with Christopher C. Myers in his practice, representing plaintiffs dealing with employment discrimination, civil rights violations, and personal injury claims, as well as a wide variety of other concerns, including medical malpractice, breach of contract claims, and occasional products liability claims.
Starting in the summer of 2019, Ms. Smith had the opportunity to work at the Indiana Attorney Generals Office in its prison litigation division in Indianapolis, before returning to Fort Wayne in early 2020 to again represent plaintiffs. Since her most recent return to the Summit City, Ms. Smith has had the good fortune to once more represent the interests of plaintiffs in a variety of challenging and rewarding cases, with a focus now primarily on employment discrimination, harassment and retaliation, civil rights, and personal injury law.
Throughout her approximately 20 years of legal practice, Ms. Smith has had the opportunity to gain extensive experience in ligation. She has been lead counsel at over 70 jury trials, has represented plaintiff's in both individual and class actions law suits, and has presented oral arguments before state and federal courts in Indiana, as well as the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
